BetterGecko

BetterGecko does not collect any data about you. The developer runs no servers for the app and receives nothing from it. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs.

This policy was last updated on 12 October 2026 and applies to BetterGecko on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Who the app talks to

The app connects only to the GeyserGecko service (geckows.co.za), which operates your controller and your GeyserGecko account. It sends your sign-in details to that service and exchanges device readings and settings with it, exactly as the GeyserGecko website does. How the GeyserGecko service handles that data is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, not this one.

What the app stores on your device

Your GeyserGecko email and password, so the app can keep you signed in. On iPhone and iPad they are kept in the iOS Keychain; on Android they are encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore.
Your session token and device list returned by the GeyserGecko service.
Your own preferences: device names, an optional installation address, electricity rate, element rating, and mode schedules.

This data stays on your device. It is not synced to iCloud or any other cloud, and the Android app opts out of Android backup. Signing out removes your credentials and session; deleting the app removes everything.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device (for example, for mode schedules). No push notification service is used.

Exported data

If you export graph data as CSV, the file is saved wherever you choose. What happens to it after that is up to you.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, because it collects no data at all.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
